Foster Watkins

I am now a licensed real estate associate at Dorsey Alston, Realtors® after having attended real estate school in an effort to "fail retirement" for the fourth time. I work primarily with Robin Conklin, a Realtor® of longstanding service in metro Atlanta, but provide support services to other agents as requested. Robin handled our real estate needs over the years as we moved in and out of Atlanta. She did likewise for our son, Brad, who has been in banking since graduating from Washington and Lee.

Brad and Allison have "three children under three who live three miles from us” (the second child came as boy/girl twins). Hence, we are in Atlanta working as full-time grandparents. Our daughter, Sally, followed her daddy into higher education after degrees at The University of Alabama and Arizona State University and is employed in student affairs/development at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah. We do know the way down I-16 through Macon.

Prior to becoming a part-time Realtor®, I had a career in public education/higher education that started at Baker High School (my high school) in Columbus, Georgia, as a math teacher/coach/guidance director after my graduation from Georgia Tech in 1959. Janice, my wife, has counted the housing moves—at 24 right now with academic and administrative positions at eight colleges and universities and two federal school improvement projects.

Since coming back to Atlanta on a full-time basis in 2004, I have attempted to do a bit of “paying back” to Georgia Tech as a former student-athlete through my involvement with the GTLetterwinners Club. I will serve as president of the Club during the 2009-10 athletic cycle. More recently, I have been working with the Alumni Association and the Development Office at Tech as a member of the “Party Planning” Committee and the Fund Raising Committee for our 50th (Golden) Class Reunion this fall.
