Markets Spreading Cheer Around Atlanta

Shops and nonprofits in and around Atlanta have adjusted to the new reality while keeping some of the wonderful Christmas experiences we’ve grown to love and expect.

From ice skating rinks and cups of hot cocoa to arts and crafts and eco-friendly jewelry, several local institutions have turned themselves inside out for the season. They are holding open-air markets with all the trimmings during this most unusual holiday season.

HERE A FEW WE RECOMMEND YOU CHECK OUT.

Ponce City Market

Ponce City Market is presenting an ‘inside out’ Holiday Market Saturday, Dec. 12. The shops will move their wares outside, and patrons can enjoy hot chocolate and mulled cider as they shop. There will also be holiday entertainment. Ponce City Market is located at 675 Ponce De Leon Avenue.

Back to Nature Holiday Market

More than 40 vendors will be displaying their handmade and/or eco-friendly gifts for the holidays at the Back to Nature Holiday Market at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, the 127-Acre Nature Center on the Chattahoochee River in Roswell. The free event is rain or shine.

Back to Nature Holiday Market

Avalon presents the Holiday Market at Avalon with ice skating and local artisan goods. Gift wrapping is available with a unique seasonal twist — all proceeds benefit the City of Refuge, the faith-based center that helps individuals and families transition out of a crisis. Avalon is located at 400 Avalon Boulevard in Alpharetta. The market runs through Jan. 3.

Spruill Gallery

And don’t miss the Holiday Artists Market in Dunwoody at Spruill Gallery through Dec. 23. The opportunity to support more than 100 local artists and find gifts among the photography and home décor items is always meaningful. Masks are required. Spruill Gallery is located at 4681 Ashford Dunwoody Road.

We urge everyone to take precautions and stay safe during this challenging time.

For those who want to enjoy a bit of the holidays without the chaos and clamor of the traditional mall, these places are offering an alternative.
