A Buckhead condo valued at over $1 million will be up for grabs as the featured prize in HGTV’s Urban Oasis 2014 contest.

The Knoxville, Tenn.-based network has chosen The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta to be the location of this year’s sweepstakes. The contest opens for entries Thursday and runs through Oct. 10. In addition to a fully designed and furnished two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom home on the high-rise’s 37th floor, the sweepstakes winner will be awarded a 2015 Acura TLX and $50,000.

“Atlanta is such a dynamic city that it was the obvious location choice for the HGTV Urban Oasis 2014,” said Jack Thomasson, professional house planner for the HGTV home giveaways. “Previous locations have included New York, Chicago, Miami and Boston, but this is our fifth anniversary year for this project, and we wanted to showcase a city that would appeal to the largest audience possible — that’s Atlanta.”

He said after choosing the city, the challenge was finding the most attractive luxury high-rise in town.

“After visiting essentially every possible option, The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta clearly offered the perfect combination of location, luxury and lifestyle — the three ‘Ls’ of the HGTV Urban Oasis,” Thomasson said.

Karen Rodriquez, director of sales for The Residences, said the Mandarin Oriental’s well-respected brand, the 42-story building’s convenient location and the property’s attractive features make it the perfect selection for the contest.

“[The location is] literally right in the heart of everything, being able to walk across the street and be at the best shopping in the Southeast while also being able to walk a block or two to the right and having MARTA right there,” she said.

Residents can enjoy privacy separate from the building’s hotel guests and five-star amenities including 24-hour room service, 24-hour concierge, valet parking and access to the spa, steam room, sauna and restaurant, Rodriguez said.

“The building is shaped like an octagon so the views from every unit are views either of Stone Mountain, the Buckhead skyline or the downtown skyline … and every unit’s a corner unit here,” she said.

Rodriguez said though the featured residence is one of the smaller ones at about 2,100 square feet, it is valued at between $1.4 million and $1.5 million.

Individuals can enter the contest online up to two times per day. The winner will be notified in about two to three weeks after the sweepstakes ends. The network will air a special on the Urban Oasis home Sept. 15 at 11 p.m.
