  • Roswell Homes and Lifestyle
    Recognized locally and nationally as a great place to live, Roswell offers something for people of all ages. Six-hundred and forty acres of Roswell are included on the National Registry of Historic Places. Roswell has 18 parks with 800 acres of land, museums, its own Cultural Arts Center and a historic district honoring the city’s past.[1] Recreational opportunities include biking, boating, fishing, rafting and hiking.[2] Roswell received the City of Excellence Award in 2003 from the Georgia Municipal Association and has been twice chosen by Atlanta Magazine as the best place to live in the metro Atlanta area. Forbes Magazine recently recognized Roswell at No. 10 on the list of "America's 25 Best Places to Move." Ranked as one of the safest places to live in the United States, the suburban neighborhoods are a mixture of old Craftsman-style homes and newly developed subdivisions.[3] Although Roswell is one of the largest cities in Georgia, the town square is reminiscent of an old-time rural community lined with unique stores, gift shops and restaurants. A gathering place for the community, the town square hosts festivals and events throughout the year in addition to a summer concert series.[4]

  • Roswell History
    Roswell, once inhabited by the Cherokee Indians, is located in northern Fulton County along the banks of the Chattahoochee River.[5] In 1830, Roswell King of St. Simons Island, Georgia, believed the area between the Chattahoochee River and Vickery Creek would be the perfect location for a cotton mill and processing plant called Roswell Manufacturing Company.[6] Roswell offered real estate and investment opportunities to friends and the land surrounding the mill was quickly built up with homes, cottages, a general store, church and school.[7] Fulfilling a desire for local government, Roswell was incorporated as city on February 16, 1854.[8] General Sherman and the Union troops torched the city during the Civil War, yet residents returned after the end of the war to rebuild the area.[9]

  • Roswell Schools
    Roswell is in the Fulton County school district.  Public Schools within this area include Mountain Park Elementary, Esther Jackson Elementary, Hembree Springs Elementary, Vickery Mill Elementary, Northwood Elementary, Roswell North Elementary, Sweet Apple Elementary, Hillside Elementary, River Eves Elementary, Crabapple Middle School, Elkins Pointe Middle School, Holcomb Bridge Middle School, Centennial High School, and Roswell High School.  There are a handful of private schools in the area, some include Blessed Trinity Catholic High School, St. Francis Day School, Fellowship Christian Academy, The Atlanta Academy, and High Meadows School.
